TEHRAN (IQNA) – Winners of a Quran competition held in Egypt’s Kafr al-Sheikh province on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan were honored in a ceremony on Thursday.

According to al-Yawm al-Sabi website, the governor of the province and a number of other senior officials were present at the ceremony.

The competition is annually organized by the Awqaf Ministry in the holy month.

The contenders competed in memorization of the Holy Quran at four levels.

A total of 1307 Quran memorizers took part in the Quranic event this year, 475 of whom were awarded as winners in different categories.

Egypt is a Muslim-majority country in North Africa where Quranic activities are very popular, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
